Tier 1 instruction at Lake Park High School begins with quality instruction. We provide students with research based academic instruction and curriculum.  Students are offered the opportunity to participate in high engagement instruction throughout the day.  When students do need additional support Lake Park provides a variety of supplemental instruction opportunities such as math tutoring, science tutoring, english tutoring and social studies support.  These tutoring sessions occur throughout the day and students are able to access them during their study hall and lunch periods.  

Teachers are also providing social emotional learning support embedded in their curriculum.  Beyond classroom lessons, Lake Park provides specific targeted social emotional lessons during our Lancer Periods.  Students are given the opportunity to engage in a short, 30 minute activity based on appropriate life skills based on grade levels.  Students are given the opportunity to address their behaviors in a classroom environment when these behaviors are minor.  If a student’s behavior escalates it would be referred to as a minor referral which moves a student into consideration for tier 2 services.  

Tier 3: Individual Problem Solving

Tier 3 is reserved for students who have not responded to a variety of Tier 1 and Tier 2 supports.  The goal of Tier 3 is to provide a short term set of individual interventions to build a student's skill set.  Once the student has had an opportunity to build the necessary skills, they would move back down to a Tier 2 level of support and eventually back to a Tier 1  level of support.  

At Lake Park High School, students are referred to Tier 3 after failing to make improvements with Tier 2 supports in place.  The Tier 3 team has a standing meeting once a month for initial discussions of Tier 3 referrals.  At that time the team documents all prior interventions and supports and details individualized supports that will be put into place for the student.
